Clinical day

Following the usual programme of the WAP Congresses, one of the days, Wednesday 25th April, shall be dedicated to the Clinical Day. In seven simultaneous sessions, WAP members will have the opportunity to present their individual papers.

Presentations must relate to some of the theme axes proposed by the Scientific Committee for guidance, and which are detailed below.

As the title suggests, clinical papers must be clearly directed towards elucidating the consequences of the new symbolic order for the analytic treatment.

In addition, a personal commitment is expected from each speaker in the production of his or her writing. That is to say, a transmission of how each one is implicated in that which one relates and, fundamentally, how the clinical experience that he or she has chosen to present has impacted in his or her own practice. This orientation will characterize our next Congress, both in the plenary and the simultaneous sessions.

We shall work with one-hour long slots, where two papers will be presented, with one president who will be responsible for chairing a dynamic discussion that generates fruitful work, and for keeping within the set times. A mentor will accompany him/her, whose task shall be to communicate with the presenters in advance, so as to adjust the papers not only to the theme of the session but also to an articulation between the two.

¡Announcement for non Members!

Dear colleagues:
Considering the big amount of non members registered to the VIII WAP Congress, we have decided to receive non member papers for the Clinical Day. The final paper selection and acceptance decision will be in charge of the Scientific Committee. Deadline for paper submission will be January 15th 2012.

General indications Papers should have a maximum of 4000 characters including spaces. Selected papers will be distributed among the chosen mentors, in order to facilitate a dialogue with the authors to begin a work of adjustment according to the theme of the panel in which they will be presented. Papers should be sent to the following e-mail address: [email protected]

The subject field of the message must be: Clinical Day.

Theme Axes

In line with the aforementioned orientation, we propose that you take each of the following central concepts of the analytic treatment, to think about them from the perspective of the new symbolic order.

Reformulations of:

  • Transference: Frailties of the subject-supposed-to-know and current love conditions.
  • Interpretation: Its power, its efficacy, its limits.
  • The symptom: Difficulties in its constitution as such, symptom-jouissance, symptomatic rests, knowing-how to do with (savoir y faire avec).
  • The desire of the analyst: his enunciation -between prudence and disturbing the defence, between disidentification and nomination.
  • The unconscious and the Other: they are no longer what they used to be.

We suggest below a series of phenomena of our time, in order to facilitate the choice of the clinical case you intend to submit:
Failure modes – Marked bodies, written bodies, cut bodies – The maternal order – Analysts "employees", Analysts "wage-earners" - Children masters, the tyranny of childhood, teenagers at risk- The technologization of existence – New fears, old phobias – New epidemics – new identifications – The power of women – The tyranny of happiness – The imperative to know – The imposture of evaluation – The dictatorship of the surplus jouissance – new diagnoses, new disorders - validity or lightness of love.

The Scientific Committee of the Clinical Day takes on this occasion the form of a cartel constituted by Graciela Brodsky, Flory Kruger, Mauricio Tarrab, Ricardo Seldes and Leonardo Gorostiza as +1.
